Datoo is a doctoral candidate at the Department of History at the University of Chicago. Her work examines how practitioners of Avicennian/yunani medicine situated their reformist educational efforts within global circulations of scientific thought as well as within the local aesthetic and ethical commitments of the north Indian service gentry. Her dissertation project is an intellectual history of the Madrasa Tibbiya in colonial Delhi (est. 1889). Datoo’s research has been supported by the American Philosophical Society, the American Institute of Indian Studies, and various research centers at the University of Chicago.
